Problems editing video playback

I am using captivate 6 and have been given a number of WMV videos by microsoft to put into our training package. I started by converting the files to MP4 and then imported as event video with the player included no problems. I then found that I needed to edit the intro & outro for each video. I need to do this while maintaining video quality and still keeping the playbar for each video. Any ideas?

Here is what i have tried:
-Tried importing to premiere and editing there, I then exported as MP4 and lost too much quality (I suspect because the videos have already been published)
- Tried multi slide video. i.e. putting the video accross 2 slides and then hiding the slide with the content I don't want to play. By doing this I lost the playbar and the powers that be have insisted I need a playbar for each individual video and not a skin for the overall module.
- Getting the unpublished video files is not an option. Our microsoft branch do not have them.

I know that Powerpoint has the option to edit video playback and still keep the player. But I don't see how I could use that functionality to create interactive e-learning.

Thanks
