I recently created a mobile learning game using Captivate 7, deployed on 4th Generation iPod Touches through Blackboard Learn 9.1, SP 13, using SCORM 2004 3rd Edition settings. The project is a 38 MB Zip file, so I don't think that size is an issue. It contains four short videos (approximately 3 MB each) and drag and drop interaction. I wanted to use the YouTube Interaction for the videos but was not able to make that work. It works perfectly in both the web broswer preview and the HTML 5 preview. However, when I published it and tested it on an iPhone 5 and a 4th Gen Touch, the videos play but the "next" button meant to allow the learner to control when they advance to the next slide does not work on a mobile device. If the learner pauses the video before it reaches 0:00 then they are able to click "next"to continue. However, if the learner allows the video to play out until the very end, the "next" button is not active and the learner is stuck on the video screen and cannot advance. The button does work for SWF in both Safari and Firefox. This game is part of research study of mlearning for language teaching and learning. Today was the first day that I tested the game with a full class. The first class had 14 students who played the game on iPod Touches. The game crashed and froze repeatedly. It was so bad that I chose to have students in the next two classes play on iMacs. About half the players were able to complete the game successfully while others experienced a video that looped over and over again and slides that appeared to play one on top of the other. Again, all of the functions works perfectly in both preview modes but when used in the classroom, there were numerous issues. I need to be able to work out the kinks in this first level of the game as I will be creating five more modeled after the first one for my dissertation research. I also need to be able to use SCORM reporting of quizzes and interaction data. However, if I am not able to make the game work properly for 20 students at a time, the collection of data is something of a moot point. Any idea or suggestions are much appreciated. I used Captivate for a few projects several years ago but this is my first project in Captivate 7. I have seen here that support offers the option of having you share your file during a Connect session. That may be what I need. Is there an extra fee associated with doing that?
