Clear Cache Cleared Out My Documents folder. Any hope of file recovery?

I'm using Captivate 6 in Windows 7 32-bit. Working off my C: drive, with documents stored in My Documents library. It looked like my file publishing was starting to slow down. I closed the current project, and clicked CLEAR CACHE, which sometime helps.

Captivate grinds away for a bit, then I get Captivate is Not Responding. I let it grind some more, for about 10 minutes. No change. OK, I'm stuck. Not at all uncommon to see Captivate lock up. I close the application window. As it closes, my desktop background image dissappears, replaced by Window 7 blue.

I open the My Documents folder. To my horror, it's practically empty. My documents are gone. My settings are gone. Wiped.

Lots and lots of work gone. No auto backup, and too long since my last manual backup to  the network. Days worth.

I run a file recovery program on the folder. It "discovers" and "recovers" most of the files. Yay. I see them. I try to open them. They won't. "Corrupted" "Not decoded" etc. Not just .cptx, but all files in that folder. Source PPTXs, graphics, audio.

Any ideas?

PS, only error message I got was from Windows:

The program AdobeCaptivate.exe version 6.0.1.240 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.
